How do I register for class?

Please email alexandriawaycottyoga@gmail.com to register for classes! If we haven’t met before, this is a great way for us to have a quick chat to make sure my classes meet your needs. I run a one woman show, and it’s important to me to make a connection with every student!

Class Descriptions: What to Expect!

  • You can’t build a house without a solid foundation! Foundations of yoga is about becoming skillful in the basics - how to move safely, use props, transition between postures, and adapt the yoga practice for your unique needs.

This class is perfect for brand new beginners and experienced students alike. You can expect to move through a gentle warm-up, simple strengthening exercises, and various standing, seated, and supine yoga postures. Together, we will move at a slower pace so that you have plenty of time to transition between yoga postures. Emphasis is placed on understanding how to engage and relax specific parts of your body while practicing yoga, as well as simple breathing and mindfulness exercises.

This class is suitable for adults of all ages who are able to get up and down from the floor on their own.

Foundations of Yoga takes place every Monday and Thursday evening from 6-7 pm!

  • These classes are for students who wish to move their bodies in a more dynamic way, while experiencing the benefits of a longer yoga practice!

It is recommended that you attend foundations prior to vinyasa if you have not practiced yoga before.

Expect to move through a practice that thoughtfully and skillfully works towards a peak pose, or specific focus. You will have the opportunity to explore a variety of standing postures, as well as twists, standing leg balances, hand balances, backbends, and inversions.

All vinyasa classes are 90-minutes long to allow for adequate warm-up, cool down, and meditation. Vinyasa yoga runs every Monday and Thursday evening from 7:30-9 pm!

Meet Your Teacher!

I’m Alex! I’m proud to offer monthly pre-registered yoga classes for folks looking to deepen their understanding of yoga in an engaged and enthusiastic community setting. These classes are for you if you’re interested in developing a sustainable yoga practice that can be adapted to your unique and changing needs in every stage of life. Its very important to me that you feel seen, included, and genuinely supported in class.

Yoga is a way of life. I’ve been practicing yoga and meditation since childhood, and have been actively teaching yoga in diverse settings for the past 13 years. In addition to sharing weekly classes for my community, I also run specialty workshops, continuing education programs for yoga teachers, and 200-hour yoga teacher trainings.

It’s an honour to be of service to you! I’m here if you would like to connect further.

Student Testimonials

  • At first I started taking my asana practice seriously to have some dedicated time to sit with the hard things I had going on in my life. I worked a lot of stuff out on that little mat. Then I saw a lot of physical benefits and I was excited at how physically strong I was feeling. But then something shifted and I started to think a lot about the things you would talk about and the lessons you would share when I was off my mat. I started reading some books and listening to some podcasts and I realized that I was in a place where I wanted to know more, to live more fully and authentically, and to develop my own personal practice I could carry with me throughout my life. Ultimately, I don't think I would have reached that point without your guidance and skillful instruction. Yoga has made me a quieter, calmer, more contemplative and tolerant person. I often catch myself thinking of my responses before I speak and it always makes me chuckle. Yoga has taught me the power of pausing. I used to be the queen of the reactive, quick-witted, defensive, and sometimes hurtful comments. I know people have the capacity to change because I have felt a deep change within myself over the past 5 years. Adding a consistent asana practice over the last 18 months has really solidified many of those changes. Yoga was a sideline part of my life for many many years. But it wasn't until I was in a space where I could listen to the larger message, that its transformative power took hold. I practice now to continue this growth. And I value your guidance and mentorship in my yoga journey. Your abundant knowledge shines through in your classes and in the asana sequencings you craft. I love the diversity and uniqueness of these classes. It is evident how much thought and care you put into your work. You have created a safe space for adults of all ages and stages of life to come and be their authentic selves. I am grateful to be part of this community.

  • Showing up to practice on a regular basis has had a significant impact on how I feel in my daily life. Such an improvement from before. I absolutely LOVE the classes, how I feel during and after, and feeling bits of personal progress over time. One thing that truly makes your classes unique is the the depth of knowledge you hold. I leave feeling like I truly learned something about the tradition, the history, the foundations... which is all integrated into the classes so authentically, and never in that cheesy, superficial way. Plus... you have excellent taste in music! And if course the sense of community... feels so nice to now be considered a 'regular'. Thanks so much for everything!! Gold stars all the way!

  • I’ve been blessed to be practicing yoga under Alex’s guidance since the beginning of her teaching career. She has flourished into a confident yet compassionate leader. Her knowledge, attention to detail and ability to modify as needed are unparalleled. I always feel well supported and continue learning from her many years later. Recently, Alex has seen me through an almost 3 year journey with cancer - her compassion and restorative classes were a huge part of my recovery from what was supposed to be a terminal illness. Now that I am stronger I am able to partake in the vinyasa classes again which are a perfect mix of Yin and Yang and a priority in my life to continue feeding my body, mind and soul. You just can’t go wrong with Alex - she offers something for everyone.

 FAQs

  • Please send an email to alexandriawaycottyoga@gmail.com and let me know which classes you would like to attend.

  • Yes! I have been offering classes out of Restorative Health every month for close to three years. As long as there are students registered, classes will run!

  • I am an independent yoga teacher and my business model depends on students to pay monthly for their classes to ensure that all costs associated with teaching classes and renting studio space are covered. The punch pass model works for yoga studios with hundreds of clients and many classes per week, but isn’t suitable for my small-scale operation.

  • Classes purchased are non-refundable and do not roll over into the next month. If you miss a class, you are welcome to make it up during that same month.
